Vaccinations:

An unvaccinated pet is at risk of contracting deadly diseases.
The DHLPP vaccine for dogs protects against:

For full protection against these diseases, every dog will need a series of 4 vaccines given three weeks apart. Rottweilers and Rottweiler-like breeds will need a total of 5 vaccines instead.

This is followed by an annual booster vaccine each year. Puppies can receive their first vaccination from 6 weeks of age.

The RCCP vaccine and FeLV for cats protects against:
Rhinotracheitis
Calici
Panleukopenia
and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV)

For full protection against these diseases, every cat will need a series of 3 vaccines given three to four weeks apart.
Kittens can receive vaccines between 8-9 weeks of age. This is followed by an annual booster vaccine each year.

Deworming:

Deworming your pet will kill any Parasites within the intestinal tract.

Worms in kittens and puppies are extremely common. Therefore, a dewormer needs to be given twice for full efficacy and coverage. The first dewormers may be given to your pet from the early age of 3 weeks and another at 6 weeks of age.

Heartworm Prevention

Heartworm disease is very common in the Cayman Islands and is life threatening to dogs. It is caused by a parasitic worm called Dirofilaria Immitis and is transmitted to dogs through the bite of a mosquito. They live in the vessels of the heart causing excess strain on the heart resulting in congestion, severe lung disease, heart failure, death and other organ failure.

A quick and easy way to prevent Heartworm Disease is by using the veterinary recommended chewable tablet named HeartGard. It is given once a month for the entire lifespan of your dog, failure to use monthly puts your dog at risk of deadly heartworm disease.

Flea and Tick Prevention

Flea and tick prevention keeps your dogs and cats healthy and safe from common parasites which can lead to severe Anemia and other illnesses. Fleas can consum 15 times their own body weight which can cause a significant amount od blood loss in your pets overtime. It is even more problematic in young kittens and puppies where an inadequate number of red blood cells can be life threatening.

A great solution to Flea and Tick prevention is the veterinary recommended NexGard for your dogs which can be started at 8 weeks of age, and Bravecto for your cats which can be started at 9 weeks of age. The dosage is dependent on his/her weight.
